Akshay Kumar hit the bullseye with his releases last year, Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom, and it looks like he is set to recreate the box office success with his latest Bollywood outing, Jolly LLB 2. As per early estimates, the film, which opened in 3500 screens across India, raked in around Rs 15 crore on its opening day.
Reportedly, Jolly LLB got off to a great start, as the producers Fox Star Studios have already recovered the cost of production and promotion through the sale of satellite, music and digital rights. This means that the Akshay and Huma Qureshi-starrer will make profits from the opening day itself.
Jolly LLB 2 is the sequel to Arshad Warsi-starrer Jolly LLB, which became a surprise hit at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of advocate Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly is already receiving applause. The courtroom drama features Annu Kapoor as Jolly’s professional rival, advocate Mathur, and Saurabh Shukla as Justice Sunderlal Tripathi.
Huma Qureshi, who plays Jolly’s wife Pushpa Pandey, said that she was expecting Jolly LLB 2’s collections to overtake that of her biggest hit, Badlapur.
